THE SOLUTION
Developing a suitable non-profit transportation service for the under- served communities is less expensive than developing one for urban areas. Much of the suburban program’s budget can be devoted to transportation cost, and some programs find these cost prohibitive. Program leaders sometimes have to choose between expanding components of a program or investing in transportation so participants can attend the program. Simply put, the northwest suburbs cannot be without a reliable, efficient transportation service for seniors, veterans, persons with disabilities, and low income families.
With an injection to grant funding, partnerships, corporate sponsors and help from foundations Operation Drive will be able to carry over 20,000 passengers each year.
